Day 414 - Of Friendships, Gratitude and Blossoms In A Pot

Flowers really speak to me. In the language of beauty, they conjure up stories, evoke memories, convey feelings.  Silently and in a single stalk, we can say I am sorry, I love you or I am really happy for you.

So I picked flowers again for my very belated anniversary presents (in December when I fell off the edge of blog-land)Balls of blossoms in a pot with names like Bliss, Bouquet, Eve and Angels. They were selected for you based on the history we shared, the significance in the name or the state I think you are in.

When I was in Bangkok last week, I began to receive email from some of you telling me that you have already received my little bundles.

I hope you have a glass jar or pot or any kind of transparent drinking vessel. You will want to watch the story unfold, trust me. Carefully place the ball of leaves in there before you pour hot water about 30-60 seconds after boiling. Then just put your chin on the table, let the tea steep and watch...

and you will start to hear my feelings, maybe even to a tune.

For the times you were here when I was not,
for the times you shared when I was,
for the times you thought of me,

I thank you.

All over the world, dear friends, we are drinking our teas and thinking of each other, conversing without speaking. What is your flower tea saying today? Will you tell me?

By the way, don't throw the tea leaves out so soon. Re-brew the tea leaving some water in the pot by adding fresh hot water, 2-3 more times. You can drink it all afternoon as you work on your minis. And of course, you can think of me that while longer.

How very apt you posted this just now. My postman literally arrived 10 minutes ago and I was sitting here with tears in my eyes thinking of you and marveling at what an amazing friendship we have developed over the years without even meeting.

You might not be around much.I might not be around much. We might not speak often. But all the while you are there in my heart and thought of often.

I am so glad I have read this, I will indeed now place my flower in a glass container and watch it bloom.

What powers made you type this up right as I am sitting here thinking of you. And now with even more tears in my eyes.

Susan, you are truly a wonderful person. We WILL meet one day, of that I am sure.

With much love from me xxxxxx

Pour Carefully Dear Friends!
I must have poured the water too fast... my "Blossom" separated and floated away from the leaves... Was it trying to Float away on the Ether....???? Escaping the Bonds of Time and Space???? Telling me that I cannot chain even ephemeral Beauty.... blossom or Thought or Feeling... all must flee into the Past....
But the Beauty of the opened leaves and the flavor of the brew carry the strength of Friendship.... even over the Distance and the Time.... even with the blossom fragmented and the petals dispersed....
The leaves, like the Friendship Endure!
Thank you, Dear Sans! for Being there still!
(I will pour more gently with the Angels...!):):):)

Jayne, I am so moved by your comment..beyond words really. How can we even begin to explain the magic of this community? I no longer question the whys and hows but I revel in it.

Awww Margriet! You know I too have bought myself a special glass t-pot just for these teas. I just love them! I love that your family will enjoy the teas with you.

Like Betsy say, do remember to pour the water gently and not too boiling hot. About 1 minute after the water comes to a boil. Steep it for as long as you wish . I drank my for more than 4 hours :).

Hello Sweetheart,
What a cool and interesting thing to watch.
I am sorry to get back to you so late. I had a little heart problem to deal with. But I am fine now.
I could not email you, For some reason my puter would not let me get to your email. So here is mine. I will put my address on the return email.
I would love to get something from you. I've always been a fan of yours. I have not been on the puter much and no longer run my blog on my own. Rather you send anything or not...I would love to hear from you.
