Day 411- She's Here!

As a matter of fact, she's been there sitting in a little corner at my office since Monday, 11 November 2013.

She came snugly packed in this box

which was in turn secured in this one.

Now tell me, how can anyone not be excited when you see such a huge box delivered to your doorstep?

I saw her back first with the half hidden OM tattoo.

Then, that by now familiar smile.

I carefully fixed her on the stand as I was instructed to do

and I turned her this way and that.

I played with her hair a lot as I am wont to do with my own.

Hers was much softer though and lovely to the touch.

And I marvelled at her apron

which looked so like mine.

She has paint stains everywhere

and she is really messy when she works.

So like me that way

and many,

many

other ways.

From that bowl of threads

to my pair of straw slippers from Japan,

the view outside,

and the blue bird in her hand,

they are all my stories re- told  in such magnificent yet precise ways.

So here she is, Ren,

a very happy pair of us.

Saying a big thank you

heartfelt and afar.

Remco, I am so glad I decided to do this and finally found someone who can realise it. I am indeed lucky, lucky to have a sculptor who would work with me hand in hand every step of the way. She showed me progress very often and right to whether the doll should be standing, sitting , her face etc she sought my opinion. She also kept assuring me that if I didn't like it, I wouldn't have to take it.

She is truly a dream.

Oh Margriet, you are an angel!!! I really don't like my own photos and I am far from beautiful. Like this one, I kept thinking my cheeks are so puffed up..hahaha but I wanted to also show how Ren really captured my smile :).

It is so hard to sculpt an ordinary face with no distinct features, I feel but she did a great job. I am so pleased that she made the doll way more beautiful than the real person.

You are too kind, Neomi but thank you!

I miss you soooooooooo much Ewalina. I wish we could get on an overnight train and talk talk talk again. It's been 2 years already since that day! *tear :)

You know I am rarely happy with my photo. It might look ok today and then tomorrow I will find something wrong about it and want to take it down. hahaha. Anyway, I picked this one for the smile. Glad you like it, SoulSis!

Tell papa Jacek and Mama Krystna that I am thinking of them :)

And again it's breathtaking looking at this masterpiece - that is not only so well done but is able to capture your personality, habits and character up to the smallest detail. But I agree with the others - the best thing was the last photo... seeing Mini-Sans! and my beloved real Sans! happily together!!!

Dearie, believe it or not I have a lump in my throat...
Mini Sans is wonderful of course but that last pic...it touches me so much!

Sans! said...

Ro, YOU touched me! So much!

How lovely it is for me, after a stressful day, to be here with all of you, reading all your wonderful wonderful responses.

You know it is funny how during this whole time with mini Sans!, how often I thought of you and your portraits. :)I know you will appreciate how something like this can affect me so profoundly.

Love love love to you, my dear friend.

Sans! said...

Malu, lo que es una alegría para mí leer tu comentario. :). El tiempo puede distorsionar una memoria y un panorama más optimista. Me alegro de que te acuerdas de mí en esa luz!

Sans! said...

Hahahaha Christine, I might as well have photoshop myself. This picture is one of maybe like 1000! You won't be so impressed when you see the other 9997! :)

Sans! said...

Birgit, so far reading all your responses felt almost like a reunion with some of you. I have had such a indescribable experience in Europe that it remained one of my most life changing trips.

You know in my dance class today, they played Soul Sisters :). It was a fast number of course but I was feeling so nostalgic and missing you guys, I actually closed my eyes and slowed down. :).

hmmmm, the wonderful world of Wankendorf :)

Sans! said...

Thank you Martha :):) I really love those paint stains too :)

Sans! said...

Bestie, I just love her but mostly what I really love is how Renata created her in a very specific way taking in all the essential aspects of what happiness means for me.

Dancing, creating, art. My space when I am creating or expressing myself, whether it is physical, spiritual or emotional. This is JOY from within. And how in the moments like these, nothing material defines me. No who I am with, no what I do, what I have.

Bliss. Bliss. Bliss.

Sans! said...

Eva!!!!!!!!!! My dear Eva !

Please give each of them, Arnau and Alex, kisses and hugs.

Come see my office and everything for real soon :). This is a very much nicer office as compared to my last one! :)

Sans! said...

O my you made me blush, Kikka :). Thank you :)

Sans! said...

Ilona, I went back to my "studio" over the weekend , the mini one, where that portrait of yours stood in a special space. The person you drew must have felt the same way with his portrait.

Thank you for your very kind and generous compliments but as you well know a photo like this one hides many flaws. The doll however represents a perfect version and it is tempting to have that perfect (and unreal) version immortalised so people will remember you that way :)

Sans! said...

Drora, Ren used another very good and rare picture of me to model her :). I am indeed lucky she portrayed me in such flattering light :)

OH SANS!!! She is So YOU!! That million dollar smile is an Exact duplicate and the rest is all so unbelievably- You All Over!! What Exuberance and Joy in the frozen motion of Mini Sans dance! Such Love of life is apparent in every tiny detail but most of all in That Smile!
Enjoy- You! :D

Sans! said...

Elizabeth, even my closest friend thought that smile was spot on :).

I am enjoying her too much! This doll is making me rather narcissistic! hahahaha.

Sans! said...

Susan, THANK YOU!!!! Although I must protest and say I absolutely CANNOT agree with you that Mini Sans is in any way less...less anything! :).

Sans! said...

Hahahaha Sumaiya :)

I think Ren has done a fab fab fab job too.

Sans! said...

Cara Manu, nella vita reale, non sono sottile come quella, anche se Mini Sans non è magro. Il mio culo è più grande anche! hahahaha

Ma Amo dipingere e lo fa troppo :).

Grazie per essere qui, amico mio :) voi.

Gracias, Carmen

OMG Sans!! Beyond incredible!! Not only is she a perfect likeness (just as beautiful as her real life counterpart) but the essence of your quirky creativity has been perfect captured too. This is one of the most amazing things I've seen in a long time, you must have been ecstatic when you open the box and set her free.
