Day 406 - The Many Colours Of Rust

I love the many colours of  rust

Whether it is the green of oxidised copper

or the blues of weathered brass,

be it the dusty red of corrosive iron

or its brilliant yellow when the iron flash rusted in a flood;

I just love them all.

I know I use the word rust liberally but as far as I am concerned, all these patinas form part of Nature's perfect palette of secondary colours; colours you get after mixing air with metal.

Ochre to sienna, russet to umber, teal to verdigri, cyan to turquoise.

What will art be like if we are to make it with this perfect palette of patinas?

Amazing color variations!
I love it when the ink struggle to remain in place while the iron at its base is deteriorating.
Hugs.

Hello from Spain: nice variety of colors. Very inspiring. Keep in touch

Hello Sans, I think your rusty colours are looking naturally rusty indeed but also very lively, thanks to the blue and vivid red you use next to the more earthly colours. Beautiful!
Hugs, Liduina

Hi Sans, I love the way you use materials, paint simple objects to make them look something else. And how you make poetry combining detailed photos with words. Visiting your blog is always inspirational, it feeds my inner painter.

son unos colores realmente preciosos, y en la naturaleza la mezcla incluso es mas extensa, quien pudiese usarlos todos

Hello Sans! Rust IS Beautiful and should be as cherished and valued like 'gold' in our miniature world. I love it when things look old and weathered rather than Everything brand new. There is a place for each and we need to have an appreciation of how they compliment each other. Like night and day, hot and cold, wet and dry and new and old. Your catalogue of the variety and the beauty of the colors that are inherent in rusts are a joy to behold. Many thanks, dear Sans for this 'pictionary' of our beloved rusts!

Dear Sans! There is a saying: If you look well there is beauty in the most simple things of life! So you are a good observer ;)!
I love these beautiful colors, thank you for showing.

It's a tiny work of art Sans, and I can just see you there dipping brushes in little pots one after another dabbing a little here and a little there, probably saying to yourself many times 'it's finished' and then starting the dipping and dabbing all over again :)

Beautiful, Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL!!! Nothing but Beautiful! I want to see the whole piece now, please! The bluebirds are Enchanting.... and they sing from a Beautiful Tree.... You are a Wizard with the Hand of Time.... aging all the items that cross your path.... making History and Mystery with every pass of your magic brush! I LOVE it!!!

You have made me appreciate the beauty of rust with its diversity of colours! I will now look at rusted objects with a different eye. In real life, I do not like rust on furniture. Only in miniature because it makes things look real. I love how you have represented the rusting away of your piece. It could not have been easy.
