Day 294- My 3rd Year Was...

...a year of woven stories

and

spun tall tales;

Sojourns in Indian palaces,

lessons in the yogic ways,

and

Nights of burning the midnight oil,

Days to better hone my skills.

Of friendships and frame baskets

dancing shoes and girlfriends,

memories that remain.

Photographs are of details in the Spinner's Corner and Embroidery Room of the Rolla's Tribal House, my 1st dollhouse. The spinner's corner was the 1st of the many areas in this house that I have done. I started work on this house on 1st April 2010 and finally completed it in my 3rd year since I started making miniatures, on 10th December 2011 after I finished Baby.

Hi dearie, have you a bit more of spare time? I wanted to write to you but I didn't want to add up to the huge heap of unread mails you already have.
You summed up your three years so well, you are so good with words that I never have enough of them. More over I always learn a few more ;o)
Big hugs, Rosanna

Thank you Vic for reading my mind ..LOL. I was hoping for some feedback on my photographs :). Nearly wanted friends to pick the picture they liked best but decided against it. Maybe next post :).

But for now 1 vote for shoes :) YAY!

Ro, I do , I do! Will always have time for you, you know that. You are on my top 3 people to write by the way . I have so much to tell you so be prepared for a long one.

On this laptop, I have already gone through the many unread mails and as at this minute, there are only 65, 46 of them subscriptions to comments :). I can deal with them quickly :).

Anniversary posts are not easy to write for me so this year I decided I will use as few words as possible ..LOL. I was surprised to see that the whole post could almost fit into the dashboard summary. Must be a welcome respite from my usual long long posts.

Ok, wait for me mail!

What I like absolute best about your creations is your use of colour, so vibrant and warm! My faourite photos are the one with the shoes (there you go, two votes now!) and the one with the basket of spun yarn.
Here's to another year, cheers!

What a nice summary of 3 years of outstanding blogging! I was wondering... I'm joining you for about a year on that journey through blogland and I could hardly imagine how it would be without your magical posts and your either heartwarming or funny comments... I have to admit it... I'm Sans!-addicted... ;O)

Greetings
Birgit

P.S.: Of course I come to your aid to make you understand my post of today (teehee, d*mn google translator). It was about the plastic wreaths Fluby is presenting in the second pic, they were placed around the electric candles of the "Schwibbogen" in the first pic. Btw - do you know a "Schwibbogen" in Singapore? It's an invention from poor miners who digged for ore and tin in a region called "Erzgebirge", they earned money during the dark winter time carving wood. The form of the "Schwibbogen" symbolizes the gate of the miner's tunnel, i. e. the hope for light... You find them nowadays in many German windows during christmas season... ;O)

besitos ascension

Thank you Josje. It was the building of this house that made me embrace colours like never before. I was very much a "Manhattan Black" kind of gal. My wardrobe consisted of no colours because black, white and grey are not colours right? :)

But even now, I get a little scared when the colours are too bright :). So I am thankful for your comment, Josje, because if you like it, I must be doing something right.:)

Flor, su fascinación no puede ser igual a la mía con su trabajo:) (espero que salga bien con Google Translate:). Sólo quería decirle que admiro su trabajo aún más. Gracias por pasar mi 3er año conmigo. :)

Maria Ireland, your words have touched me more than you know. Thank you!

Piiko, there will be little meaning for me in blogging if I have not met you and so many others in the 3 years that I have been blogging. It is just amazing that some of us are still here after all this years, right?A good community is really the only reason.

Mi querido Ascensión, usted es alguien que considero como un ardiente partidario, siempre atento y paciente, un amigo fiel y maravilloso. Usted ha hecho mis años de blogs más maravillosa e inolvidable. Gracias, amigo mío. ¡Felices fiestas!

Birgit, you know I always love it when you pop by, say really nice things, sometimes even lie to make me happy I'm sure, and then explain how Google Translate mutilated your posts! :) Please tell me I am not blind but I really didn't find any of the plastic wreaths in the 1st pic!

Thank you for your explanation of Schwibbogen. I love folk art more than any other form of art..ok, maybe I love mini more...no no, (can you tell I can be fickle where art is concerned?) but yes, folk art! With the stories to match :)

Sans! said...

Margriet, if I have not told you before, may I tell you now how happy I am that I have found you and your "happy" blog . I call it a happy blog because you make me smile so much with your posts and minis that I invariably left it feeling happy!

So thank you for being a part of my 2011.

What an amazing 3 years of creativity, unique and vibrant. Always a pleasure to see your work and this post is a nice 'review' of it. You should be very proud of what you've accomplished, and we are all, I am sure, thankful that you've shared it.

Oh, Sans! HOW could I have missed your anniversary post???? I was looking for it..... it did not pop up on the top of my blog list.... I only noticed it when I had scrolled and scrolled.... so I am sorry I am so late to comment here!
I MUST say that I Cannot choose a favorite picture.... they are ALL so Rich and detailed and BEAUTIFUL.... and filled with the memories of following your creation through the last two years... (I only found your blog in January of 2010)... the depth and beauty of your work on the Tribal House is just astounding! You have woven an entire world and history and LIFE into your tiny creations. This is SO Much MORE than a Blog about minis...... it is the unfolding of your LOVE for this tiny World that you have both stumbled upon and created from the most basic of elements.... thread, string, sticks, clay..... Sans, this little House is a Work of ART!
I am a little sad that it is DONE.... but I HOPE that the next project will carry us on another journey .... creating a world with you!
Congratulations on your three years of Mini blogging! (And Bashing!) May you have Many More!

It's just this time of the year, kind of like a birthday. Time to reflect and see what you have done, whether you have been good or bad. So what will your letter to Santa be, Norma?

Dear Santa,

[ ] I have been good this year;

[ ] Ok, most of the time

[ ] Once in a while

[ x ] Nevermind, I will buy my own presents

I am making double, no, triple awwwwwww sounds, Bets. You really should make a compilations of all your comments written on blogs (mine, Amy's etc etc) because some of your lines are sheer poetry. :) Not because they are songs of praises for me of course (ok, maybe 25% weight but ONLY) but your eloquence to express the most complex emotions (not yours but mine) is second to none. I struggle to write, it doesn't come easy to me so I envy you :).

I thought I would be at least a little sad that I have finished this house. After all, there is always only one 1st. But surprisingly, I felt none of that. It's very similar to me having just finished cleaning my room or my house. I just want to sit back and enjoy what I had done :). The test of whether I am completely happy with it is whether I want to change anything and I am happy to hear the little voice in my head saying "no". I think that means I am satisfied :). Satisfied is a big word for me because I rarely am that :). And "satisfaction" almost always entail "love". Love for what I did. As usual, you were absolutely spot on, Betsy.

I will never be able to thank you enough for always taking the time to share your thoughts with me :).

He he - I'll definately be ticking the last box - and in fact I HAVE bought my own presents! ;)

I for one am a big fan of the dancing shoes. The story of the twelve dancing princesses has always intrigued me.

Oh, yeah and the part about girlfriends. I'm pleased and proud to count you as one of mine. :)
