Day 104-Dale's Royal Beddings

There is a Chinese saying that goes something like "Big illness is unfortunate but little illness is fortunate" because you are pampered and you get to stay in bed. I have been in bed since Sunday and today is already Wednesday. It's small illnesses. A flu that would not go away, caught it since before I left for Bangkok on the 12th. And hives. Big, angry, red, itchy hives that are finally fading after 3 days. I just read on Wiki that hives sometimes accompany cold. 1st time I got them with a cold.

Anyway, with all these small illnesses, all I did was stay in bed, watch TV, sleep. Very, very fortunate although I could not keep awake thanks to the antihistamines that caused drowsiness.

I am feeling much better today and thought this an opportune moment to introduce a set of beautiful beddings (plural because although it is only one, it is reversible so it's like having two!!) I had won from Dale's Dream Dip. I actually won a US$20 voucher to Dale's Etsy Shop. It's a beautiful shop with many wonderful hand crafted miniatures, all made by Dale. I was however unable to find anything Indian enough and dear sweet Dale went through her collection of exotic cloth and came up with 2 pieces of blue and red paisley silky cloth which she made into the front and back of 1 bedding, 1 bolster and 2 pillows. Her parcel arrived on the day I returned from Bangkok, the 16th and I can now swear by her great craftsmanship. The bedding was sewn on all 4 sides and I could not tell which end was handsewn and which were machined. So Dale, if you need a reference, I am it!

If I have these royal cloth for beddings and pillows, I betcha I won't be getting any hives! Thank you, Dale, thank you very much!

Are those hives localized on one side of your body? Could be Shingles; weak chicken pox caused by stressed immune system.

Hope you get better soon!

Fabolous, I really love them. nd I feel so sleepy that the simple sight of beddings makes me yawn :o))) I'm happy you feel a bit better. Best wishes and hugs Rosanna

Hey, I'm so glad to see you posting again - blogland has been so quiet without you. I was getting a bit worried as I figured the only thing that could possibly keep you away was illness. Great you are feeling better, hope you are very soon back to normal :) Love those fabrics!

Hi Anonymous, I had Rubella last year and the doctors here thought that was a phenomenon and promptly declared me the oldest Rubella (German Measles) patient in Singapore...kidding but one doctor actually said I was the oldest she had ever known. Double whammy. To be sick and oldest! Anyway, I think it is hives or that's what my doc told me. Not localised and at one point spreading to my "trunk", thighs, shoulders and horrors, a bit on my face as well. So I locked myself in the room, take my antihistamines and sleep and I am getting better.

Thank you, Rosanna. Ya, they made me yawn too! Or maybe its the antihistamines. Last one left. Hope I will be well enough for Christmas eve. Will really like to meet my friends :)

O Norma, that's real sweet of you. I am trying to catch up with everyones' posts tonight but my firefox kept crashing every 1 minute. I have to type my comments in a separate word document and then cut and paste it quickly! LOL. I see you have made many posts on your blog. Can't wait to read em.

Ooooh, very pretty! Now you'll have to build a bed for it.

I often think that a "little illness" would be nice every once in a while for a break, but in reality, I'm always too sleepy from the medications that I can't get caught up on reading or anything else; it just ends up being wasted time. Glad to hear you're feeling better!

So nice to hear you're feeling better Sans, hope you're fully recovered tomorrow! Love the beddings and pillows!

Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog today. Hope you are feeling better very soon. Hive are usually an allergic reaction to something.
Could even be the antihistamines you are taking? Or some other medication you took for the flu?
Enough unsolicited nurse thoughts...
Love your new bedding! Especially the blue side! It's beautiful!

This is crazy, 4th time I am trying to reply to Cindy!!!

Boy, do I know what you mean by the smaller, the bigger. Dale's work is exquisite tough. You must try and get something from her for your little cafe

Sans! said...

Yea, Belle. I will make a bed cos Indian beds are not available for sale. I did start one. Still trying to perfect the stool :).

If you sleep like me which is hardly (except when I run a lot) then sleep is great fortune I guess. But yea, fortune is when you have time to do things, not sleep. I think sleeping is a waste of time ..haha!

Helene, thank you! Small illnesses they are, so no big deal. Today I am well enough to research on perfume shops, read (pg 100of My Name is Red), post, stitch, email a bit and catch up with all your posts. Great fortune!

Kathi, thank you :). I saw left a comment on your last post and here you are:). I played Enya's Christmas Secrets over and over from your post :). Could you feel your blog spinning?

The antihistamines were given for my hives. I did take some antibiotics for my toothache and then promptly lost them after 2 days..sigh..I hate antibiotics. Told the doc I don't want them but I was participating in a race and did not want to be sick that day and he said antibiotics were the fastest way to heal my bad gums.Right after the race, I got sick till now. So no antibiotics henceforth! :)

Love your last post by the way :).

Ah Sans, happy to see you are back... hives and all!
Hope someone pampered you while you were sick, and they did not just feed you chicken soup and noodles through the locked door. I love your reversible duvet and I'm sure the royal couple will adore both sides. I was worried about you and I'm glad you are better now. Hope your trip to Thailand was successful and we are waiting to hear all about your adventures there!

Jayne, I am squealing with delight! Your guest room's gonna be Indian??? Ok, let me see if I can dig out some souvenirs for that room in preparation for the arrival of Sans!

I am so lost now with my new Mac. Never used one before. My comp crashed this morning. Graphics card gone kaput and now I have to wait 1-2 months for a new one. Can you imagine that? All I have is a hard disk with no cover so I can't use it. I have no email addresses and nothing I can use. My MacBook is a virgin! So, when I can my data back, I will email you and then you must let me know if you are really doing an oriental room for your beautiful new home. I will so love to see it real life, Jayne. Yours is a house I will buy too.

LOL, I am still behind, but, I will catch up with everyone, all, in the new year. :)

Sans, I've been thinking about your bed. Brainstorming for ideas.

I went to our local import store and I was thinking if you used coasters or placemats you could make the head board. Or upholster a head board... I have some black and gold fabric that would be neat for that.

I found some bamboo woven placemats and coasters made that look like glass mosiacs. There is so much out there to gather inspiration from.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my ideas with you, even though, I'm like two days late and a least a couple dollars short as they say, lol. ;)

Lemme know if any of that sounds good to you. :)

Sans! said...

Haha, Kiva :) They are perfect!

Jayne, am back and will email you soon.

Dale, those are darn good ideas. In fact, I just went out today and saw some incredible plate mats that will make great flooring for one of my rooms. I will post pics soon! :)
