Day 417- The Perspective Of A Fruit Tree

I was "growing" a fruit tree for the Abandoned House when I was once again confronted with the issue of "scale". It was some rambutans I bought from a Thai artisan which I wanted for my tree but these rambutans were a little on the big side (even by my very imprecise standards).

As some of you may know of me, I am not one to measure down to the last millimeter for a flawless 1:12/24/48 scale. After all, the same object can be different things in different scale. For instance, my Abandoned House could be a 1:48 chateau or a 1:24 shed or even a 1:12 pigsty.  Conversely, an object can, and do, come in many sizes. There are large, medium or small sunflowers or tables or maybe even....

rambutans..

So at the end of the day, how do I tell when something is of the right size? Simple, really. It just must look right,

Or if it doesn't quite, we can always call it a dragon fruit tree instead of a rambutan tree, maybe even a red durian tree.

Surely our small world can be anything we want it to be, right?

I was searching for the "underline"-button... you're so right about scale. The most important thing is that it looks good... and if it looks good it's automatically right. And your tree looks good for sure... and right... and beautiful. ;O)

To be honest: I've looked up the names of both of these trees in the Wikipedia, because they are totally unknown to me ;)! After a good look I must say that your trees are excellent, Susan :D!! So, don't worry, go on and create your own miniature world, just like you want to do...:D! That's what we all do, isn't it ;)? Moreover, I already love what I can see in these pictures, it is soo very Sans!-like ;).
I wish you a nice evening and week! Big hug, Ilona

I agree completely that "scale" is a very judgmental and various thing! There are huge apples and tiny apples, huge roses and tiny roses..... huge cats and tiny cats...! A chair is even a thing of variety and so is a house! We do get overly preoccupied with the "perfect" in mini scales.... but I am like you... if it looks right and feels right... then at least we can Pretend it is right!!! :)
Your tree looks lovely to me... but like Ilona, I have no idea of the "true" size or shape of the RL version.... so I am willing to assume that you have got it "right"! I LOVE that you pick up the tiny fruits in your yard and transform them into the mini tree!
At my old house we had a Larch tree that made the most perfect tiny pinecones.... but I never kept any.... and it is not a common tree. I will have to search to find them again!
BTW your blog posts don't show up in my sidebar until a day later... and then they are waaaay down the list and I don't see them right away!!! (Sorry to be late all the time.... but SO Happy to see you posting here again!!!):):):)

I just love your tree, no matter what it's name is. Looks perfectly in style with your scene.

Hugs, Drora
