Day 412- Worn Shoes

I have a pair of ballet shoes that look like they are 100.

But in them,

you can still hear the music

and see the grace

feel their passion.

So I kept them, this pair of shoes.

Worn, empty but more significant than ever before.

They are not just shoes...they are a beautiful memory :-)

Agree with Margriet. There's also something about ballet shoes that delves deep into the little girl inside of us, we have all wanted to be so graceful and wear a tutu. I know I did, dream of it I mean. I was never very elegant... instead of ballerina's, I wore my grass stains proudly but they don't make for such an exquisite picture :-)

Have you used them before in RL, dear Sam?
I remember at my primary school there were people looking for kids for ballet school. For a moment I thought it would be great to dance in ballet but...they didn't choose me.;) Many years later I've learnt how hard dancing in ballet is and am grateful they didn't choose me.;)
I like a lot to watch them dancing still.:)
Your shoes are BEAUTIFUL!
Hugs and kisses

It is not realy my thing
but I like music and love to sing

Then everybody tells me to stop!!!
or they will call a copp????

Like these old shoes is how I feel
after a long life and that is real.

I love these shoes I can say.
Greetings and a lovely day!

(sorry but in this time of year we do rhyme a lot in Holland)

I bet this is a true case of too much "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy"... ;O)You were right, how could you ever throw them away... the music has to go on and on... although it's only a whisper...

Fairy dancing ballet shoes, Susan, beautiful memory!

I guess that Remco has the (let's say) Sinterklaas-illness, he is right: a lot of people make poems nowadays until it is the 5th of December and Sinterklaas will leave our country for one year. Even my Klaas Vaak/the Sandman rhymes ;)!

"Oh to dance beneath the diamond Sky with one hand waving free..."
Just the Word "dance" conjures so much passion and beauty.... surely the empty shoes still dream....

When I was a little girl, I wanted to become a prima ballerina!!! I read books about ballerinas and for many years, my favorite movie was the ballet classic " The Red Shoes" My favorite dreams were the ones where I was a center stage, dancing gracefully across the theater stage to a mesmerized and maddly applauding audience. Ahh.... To dance.... to dream!

and then I woke up :(

I suppose that ballerina shoes have a magic on their own.
My little niece dances and I do not longer envy dancers, I see my little one's poor feet and I wonder if it worth all this suffering.
Yet when I look at ballet dancers and I see how gracefull they are, how they seem to float weightlessly into air I sigh a tiny bit and I dream.
Your little shoes gifted all of us with a fleeting sweet dream

Hola Susan, hace mucho que no pasaba por tu blog y quería mandarte un beso y desearte Feliz Navidad.
Las zapatillas de ballet me recuerdan a las de mi hija gastadas por el tiempo.
Saludos

Veronique, I have always loved dancing but I was not a trained one. Back when I was a wee one, ballet was for the very privileged. Nowadays, every little girl has dance classes.

I wanted to make an old pair of dance shoes and what dance shoes are more evocative than ballet slippers right?

Except perhaps the "grass stains" you wear, Veronique because you do have that magical way with words and I am sure your words can paint for us that exquisite picture easily.

Thank you for your sweet words , Kikka but I believe my friends here are all willing participants in my world which make the job of any enchanting an easy one:)

Ewalina, what a dream that must have been for you. I think they have made a big mistake not choosing you. You really do have the poise and body of a dancer, yes, a ballet dancer.

I agree with you though that the life of a ballet dancer must eb a tough one. All the chocolates, ice cream and fatty foods you cannot eat. What a terrible life!

Ballet for me can be rather sleep inducing. I am actually not a big fan. Dancing however remains a cherished part of my life.

I believe everyone can and should dance. It is carefree and expressive and delightful. Ewalina, do it . :)

What are they trying to say those little shoes?! They speak of the beauty of dance, the softness of femininty, the quiet peace of a lone ballerina; but they also whisper of hours of gruelling practice, of strength and determination, and a theatre full of music and the joy and wonder of the audience. I am truly in love with these little objects and their surroundings.

Knock knock....
Crrrreeaaaakk.. The hinges are so rusty!
Hellooooo.....?
Anybody hooooome????
*Silence...*
Perhaps the place really is abandoned....
"What was that....? can you hear that music.... so faint.... perhaps it is just a whisper...I am only imagining...
*Sigh*
"I wonder if the paints have gone dry....
Perhaps I should try and paint something..."
But would anybody see....?
No matter.... it is the doing that matters... following those Dreams....
Only know you love her when you let her go.... And you let her go...
*sigh*
