Day 349- "Heaven for Dead Cars"

On the 11th Saturday, 7th July 2012, Nathaniel and I made our own Supertree for our project.

I chanced upon this barren plastic branch the day after I had just finished a run at the Marina Bay Gardens where I took pictures of the Supertrees. This was what became of it after I plucked out all its plastic flowers for the blue garden. All the light bulbs in my head burst into flames when I saw the stem and I knew then we would have our own Supertree

This Supertree of ours would be made with licence plates, rusty exhaust pipes and steel parts.

I printed the licence plates with the words I wanted to use on a paper and then glued the paper onto a sheet of metal foil that was used as packaging for medication. I then painted the plates to give them a rusty and old effect.

Rusty Exhaust Pipes

 Rusty Steel Branches

Teedee was charged with arranging the words for the Supertree. Essentially, this Supertree was to double up as a huge signpost for the garden.

One of the signs say:

Project Junkyard by Nathaniel and Sans!

My favourite one by Teedee was

WELCOME, DEAD CARS!

The thing that really pleases us both about this signpost though is how we are able to tell everyone that this junkyard project has now evolved into a

Heaven for Dead Cars.

Hi Susan! I've been away from blogging for a while and I had to read a lot what happened in the blogosphere. Besides that: also been working on miniatures :D!!
I am happy to see again my little "friend", Nat, concentrated working on the table on his SUPER TREE. What a gorgeous idea and result, I LOVE it! Fantastic!
Hugs, Ilona

In a way I've not been surprised you made your own supertree now... ;O) Your supertree is really super, those plates are stunning - but what I like the most is the project's new name. Not only that it's a perfect choice... but you know I've always considered this piece of art has nothing in common with a junkyard.

I Smiled to see the Vermont Plates (Where I lived for so many years and still go to work !)But giving Nathaniel the job of positioning them is Brilliant! Children are so Amazingly Creative with those tasks.... and Nate did an Awesome Job! Of Course this is Heaven for Dead Cars... that is Just SO PERFECT!!!

Oooooo, I've been following the Project Junkyard and I really love to see the progress. And (maybe) this is my most favourite part of all! I'm always amazed by how you can paint to make it look rusty. You must have been so proud of Nathan :)

¡Que fantástica idea y que estupendo resultado!

Me ha gustado mucho esta idea, Sans.

Felicidades por tu creatividad.

Sans, how is it possible that you and Nat are managing to make so much "music" with this project! It's like a melody growing more and more complex, but still full of fun and imagination. I would never have imagined the resting place for cars turning into such an amazing, personal garden, complete with a tree. I think that if we all had aunts like you when we were young, we would all be artists at what we do...
