Day 283- The Handbag of Glory

What kind of world is it when you thank someone for making you happy and in return, they crochet you a handbag and then fill it with the most glorious things? As incredible as it sounds, there is a world such as this and it is inhabited by angels like Rosamargarita. Lucky for me, I get to be a part of this wonderful world as well.

RosaM, as she is affectionately called by me, lives in a faraway land called Guadalajara in Mexico. Thanks to Blogland, we met over a basket weaving tutorial and since then, have been visiting each other regularly.

It was just another August evening when at La Tapatia and in a post not quite related to miniatures, RosaM decided to post some links to music so long gone, they actually made me crazy happy when I heard them. It was not unlike meeting a favourite aunt you haven't seen for 40 years.

3 days after her post, the 3 of us who left a comment on that post were told we had each won a prize. It was RosaM's way of celebrating 333 followers and a commemoration of something that happened 33 years ago.  As far as I was concerned, this giveaway took the cake for being the most unusual.

RosaM made something special for our projects and I received mine on the 4th of October 2011.  When I showed them to my dolls, Maya insisted that the hat and cardigan would go perfectly with her outfit. Baby can wear them when I outgrow the clothes, she told me, after all, blue is for boys, right?

Angel RosaM,
I make this post to celebrate your Handbag of Glory.

If I may quote Edward Monkton, and for the benefit of my friends who will need a translation of what my rather dirty coaster is saying:

Such was the power of the
handbag of glory that
ladies wept when they saw it and
those who touched it
went straight to Heaven

Thank you, Rosamargarita.

What you say is so true, Sans! Rosa Margarita is so generous and kind, and she is an example of the true meaning of the word "friend." She is also so very talented--a real artist! Thank you for your loving tribute to such a deserving person! :-)

Sans, that Rosamargarita, I'll tell, such a talent with a big, kind heart. Very beautiful presents!

I've missed so many posts of yours, wow! Finally, I've got my computer back and enjoyed reading all stories.

Everything is wonderful, but I don't see the update on your stitching?!?! Don't give up! What a project is it? Why 25 count? Have you tried 40 yet?

Isn't outstanding how a friend on the other side of the world, from an amazing place, with such skills, can send you something so filled with love, that brings such joy?

And believe me, I've tried knitting for my dollhouse, with straight pins, and thought I could do it, no problem. But my fingers wouldn't listen to my head, they were as big as bananas. How your friend Rosa managed to crochet such incredible little things, and so intricately, I can only guess and and admire...

Oh, how pretty Maya looks with her stylish new hat! And the Handbag of Glory is really special.... and the little baby... so cute! That is what amazes me over and over again about this little corner of blogland... Gifts go flying around the world at the wink of an eye! Lucky you, Sans! But I know you deserve the attention because your blog is so inspiring to so many of us! Rosamargarita has made you Beautiful gifts!

Drora, I know you'll understand :). You are one of the lucky three :).

Mona, that handbag is seriously one of the most intricate piece of basket I have ever seen up close. It is tiny, barely 1 1/2" at the widest.

By the way, all who are reading this comment, quickly go over to Mona's blog! She is hosting this incredible giveaway of a vintage Lundby House. Participate only if you will make something with it. :)

It will definitely be the next house I work on if I win. :)

Margriet, you couldn't have said it better. RosaM truly make the world a better place. The whole experience was so whimsical (in a good way) , it felt like magic. The fact that I didn't expect it at all made it even more fantastic.

Ro :):):):):)

You made me smile too :). A lot.

It's quite wonderful what music does. I remember quite vividly still how I felt that August day when I went to the music links on RosaM's blog. I also can remember how the music really made me happy. It was akin to how I sometimes feel when driving to a good song on the radio:).

Gracias Carmen. RosaM es un verdadero ángel

Sans! said...

I agree, RosaM is as beautiful as her gift, Eliana :)

Sans! said...

Actually, the hat is a teeny weeny too small for Maya's head , Ewa. Especially with those flowers. But she refused to take it off :). It'll probably go to Baby but he may complain that it's a little girly :).

Sans! said...

Maria Ireland, that bag is a masterpiece. Seriously museum quality.

Sans! said...

Jen :) . I just took pictures of the items I have won from you. The light is not very good though.

I am still shaking my head in disbelief that all these treasures are mine. :)

I am really blessed to have friends like you guys. Not just the fact that I win prizes but that you are always visiting , taking the time to pat me on my back . I attribute much of my progress to the attention that you all have been paying to my blog.

So thank you!

Sans! said...

Norma S, I am lucky ,ain't I? :)

Sans! said...

Alexandra :), I can't say it enough, the presents are really lovely. In fact when I first wrote to RosaM about them, I told her they are too lovely for my tribal house and do you know what she said? Dirty them if you have to if you want them to suit the house. Use tea, she said!!!

I didn't post the presents then because I thought I would try and dirty the bag first and hang it somewhere in the bedroom. But I just didn't dare. hahaha. I really dread spoiling it with the wrong treatment.

Sans! said...

Thank you Janice :)

Maya is smacking you (gently of course) with the hat , Birgit. Common, if you see them, you will want to grab , I mean get them too, right? :)

Sans! said...

Hey Ara, the maker of candy stools (love them :) ), don't you just love how Edward Monkton describe the handbag of glory?

I think that RosaM's bag is beyond glorious , actually :).

Sans! said...

V, sweet and special, that's RosaM alright!

Sans! said...

Natalia , I will be posting about stitching soon. I actually already took the pictures. You will not be pleased with the progress, teach :(.

And it was so long since I took it up again, I forgot that it is a 32 count canvas and not 25 or 28. 40? Hmmm...next year or maybe 2013.

Sans! said...

Christine, do you want to know hat number you are? BBC has developed this widget to let you know what number of the world's population you are when you were born :). Go to this site if you are interested : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-15391515

Ana, do you know I love handbags as well? Vintage stuff of course . I also cannot resist a bit of crochet details on clothes. It's so feminine right? :)

Amy, this fascinating world will never fail to amaze me. I have been here for 3 years and there is not a blog day that went by when I was not captivated by someone's art, generosity or talent.

I live in a competitive country, work in a cynical environment and mix around with people who do not have hobbies. Imagine my reaction when I received my 1st gift here, for no apparent reason except that she wanted to contribute to my palace project. And they just never stop gifting. I also found out how gestures like this are contagious.

Seriously, if only this little world can be expanded into the big big one... I used to think it's not possible but no more. :)

The wonderful bits of my project are those that are contributed by my friends . The stories behind each and every bit sound like a fairy tale but I want to let the world know that they are all true stories.

Sans! said...

De hecho lo son, Ascensión. Cada pieza tan preciosa:). Los amo:).

Kathy O-O, they are as delish as your chocolates :)

You are always so kind with your words, Wordsmith :).

You must also agree with me about the other wonderful blog thing: how we often seem to be thinking / working / writing about similar subjects even when we are night and day apart :). Like how you and I were both writing about babies in our last posts.

By the way, yours outcute mine by 333,333,333 times! Jojo is definitely meant for generations to come.
