Day 354-5-Mystic Place

Front Door

Mystic Place, the name itself already conjured up for me, images of magic, riddles, the unknown. I knew I had to experience it.

Coloured glass panels at the living room

So I checked my parents, my sister, my 11 year old niece and me into 2 of the 36 uniquely designed rooms for 3 nights and 3 days when we were in Bangkok last weekend (10th-14th Oct 2012).

Cloured glass panels to Balcony

Shir, Tasha and I ended up changing rooms 3 times. Just so we could truly experience as many as possible. Yes, believe you me, they had allowed and totally expected it.

Painting of hibiscus at the living room

I actually booked 3 different rooms when I was in Singapore through their website. When we arrived however, we changed our minds about these rooms because they were not suitable for 2 adults and 1 little girl who kicked in her sleep.

Traditional Wall Vents To Toilet. Bird cage to go with theme of room.

Room 402 or The Bird's Nest Deluxe was recommended to us by a truly helpful staff and was the most photogenic room of our stay.

We especially loved the wooden bathtub. Tasha said it reminded her of how the people in ancient China used to take bath, with cloudy water filled to the brim and a wash cloth up and down his or her back. Both her mum and I laughed and agreed. That was from the countless martial arts movies that we had watched.

This was the floor tile in the bathroom and they had a matching sink.

And I just had to take a picture of this vintage toilet roll holder for all my shabby-chic loving friends.

Mystic Place is for someone who loves everything vintage, rustic and unconventional.

We moved to a pink Mickey Mouse room for the next 2 nights. Tasha loved it because it had a swing hanging from the ceiling. I forgave the pink because Tasha finally slept in her own mini bed and I, fitfully without being kicked.

What a bright post dear Sam! The coloured glass panel photo reminds me about one I took in Wroclaw - need to see if I ever posted it somewhere.;) But the colours weren't that bright.
I am in love with that wooden bathtub - should have seen me saying Ohhhhhh when I saw this, lol.;) The floor is so sweet. And I would love the swing in the room!
What an amazing place! Lucky you to be there! Thank you for sharing it with all of us SS!
Hugs and kisses

Hi Susan, awesome pictures and sooooo colorful, love every bit of it. Especially the details of all the rooms, the glass panels are beautiful too. I wish I could shrink into a little birdie and just could fly to the bird cage, wish I could take a better look at it. If you have a better picture of the bird cage, can you email it to me?
Warm hugs, Ilona

Ewa, I wasn't planning on posting about this hotel until I read your last post :):). Your rustic green/turquoise cupboard with all that flowers made me :).

This is an unusual place and it is very very near Chatuchak :). They provide free transport there on the weekends so it will be quite ideal for you when you go there ;). Be sure to call me !!! ;)

By the way, that bathtub, I want one too!

Ilona, I took 3 pictures of the birdcage and except for this one, they all came up blur. But I will send them to you anyway if you want? Let me see if I can save it as much as I can.

Ok, just sent the better but still blurry one (but my email is being compacted so the sending is delayed.) My computer is getting old. 1 computer year is like 30 man years and mine is already 5. :):)

You will like this room, Ilona. It's for gals like you and me who love flowers and plants :). There seemed to be a repeated theme in most of the rooms too. They all have toys in them :). Another point up!

OOOOkie, Faiz will call the contractor next week for our secret project. :):) Will text you if anything happens.

This hotel will be so fun to miniaturise, Eliana. Imagine, 3 buildings of 36 rooms, all designed differently :). The rooms are huge too. The bird's nest deluxe is 45 sqm.

The Mickey Mouse room has a toilet with the "throne" at the end of a short flight of stairs. On your way to do your business, you can wave to the people in the room as you climb up the stairs because the walls are not high enough..teehee. It was really funny :).

Sans! Where are you now? Did I miss another post? When I saw bright green door I couldn't believe it was from your blog, :))) I t made me smile when I read about the little girl who kicks while sleeping. Oh, I know this feeling!!! Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. You see, it's all about the colors and texture around us. They give an attitude, dictate the mood and wake up our creativity and imagination. Can't wait to see what this journey will bring you in.

O´so interesting! I Love the way you introduce us to the "hotel-cultures"!
Love the Colors and the Birgage! :)
The Wooden bathtub is really something! It is so naturelike!

Some of our friends here in the North have something like that outside..
( http://www.spadealers.fi/ is one of the firm selling them, you can have a look )
I have been sitting in such an outsidetub in a very very cold weather:
-20C ! The water was hot. The sky was dark and full of stars. Lots of snow and ice + the warm sauna & cottage around us on the small island of the sea. But no more people..just me and my husband with our two friends. It was amazing!

Kikka

I've read in the comments it was Ewa inspiring you to do this gorgeous post, so thank you very much, dear Ewa! What a fantastic hotel, I've had a look at their HP and at all the different rooms, seems like a paradise for people who like to decorate rooms and spread lots of colours. The room you've shown us is so breathtaking especially with the coloured glass - and this spectacular bathtub. Thanks for taking us with you...

Hugs
Birgit

P.S.: Good memories about a lake, right? ;O)

Hey Bets, colours , YES! Although I am not sure if you will like the Natty Polly Deluxe with LOUD fuchsia walls and Mickey and Minnie soft toys everywhere. They do however have nice bedsheets (white, thank goodness!) and since we definitely didn't want to spend most of our waking hours in the room when we are in Bangkok, the loud fuchsia walls were not hard to live with. :)

But yes, you will like this place for their murals. They did a very pretty pattern in the toilet of Natty Polly ;p. I will see if I can find some pics taken by my sis and show. :)

Natalia! A group of my friends went to Russia the same time I was in Bangkok and they came back with pictures of colours clolours colours.

I don't know why but I kind of know I will just love Russia for the architecture and colours. I will definitely visit it someday.

I am therefore in complete agreement with you on colours. I couldn't have put it better than how you did!

Drora, I was actually surfing for a hotel near Chatuchak for my parents. We were going to stay in my other sister's rented apartment but the pictures of the hotel made me threw caution to the winds (and a few dollars as well..teehee) and I decided that we shall all stay there.

My mum said her room in Mystic was like staying in my house, which is also old and rustic ..hahaha!

Oooooooh Kikka, you are making me die with envy! I think you are talking about hot-tubbing :). It is like the Japanese and their hot spring . A friend once told me how he was soaking in the steaming hot "onsen" in Osaka outside in the mountains when it was snowing. Extreme hot and cold all by yourself. Just like you! I think these are just some of the most unforgettable experiences of life so yes, give me one of that please! :):)

Life is good when we can share each other's experiences like this...mmmmmmmmm :).

And yes, those wooden tubs from that website are exactly what I can use. Imagine hot-tubbing in the open in Singapore under the blistering sun and melting :):). But do I care? NO! So yes, give me one of that too! teehehehe

Sans, you go to the most wonderful places and see the most wonderful things! At first I didn't understand how a hibiscus blossom could survive on a tile floor until I snapped back to reality and realized it was a beautiful tile. That's because the colors and the glass and the patterns put me in a trance. Now I must have a green door, a wooden bath, a magic flower tile...

What a great place to book!! I don't blame you for wanting to see all the rooms!!! I am sure this is something a little girl will remember her whole life as pure magic! hugs, Ara

I am afraid I didn't use it as a tub, Maria Ireland :). Just a quick shower . We were out most of the time, shopping :):). And we went to this incredible railway market where hawkers set up their stalls right at the railway tracks. Trains still passed through and when one was approaching, it's amazing to watch how the hawkers pack up and roll back their stalls to avoid the train, only to set their stalls right back up when the trains leave. Waited 2 hours to watch this spectacle and it was well worth every minute :):).

Rosanna, the elevated throne, like durians, is an acquired taste :). But no, you can't be seen once you sit down :). For men, they don't care anyway, right? Whether they are watched?
