Hi Sans!
I am sure You can do it!..I never really thought that earlier, but the idea of all your dreamhouses is already there! You just had to show it to me! Thank you for that! Can`t wait to see you start the tranformation work :)

You brave girl ;-)
I can hardly wait to see what you're going to do to that house..I'm sure it will be very enjoyable :-)

My dear, if there is anybody who can do it , that's you!
I'd start taking off the upper windows to make the roof even. Then the bow window, the balcony would run all way long. I like the shape of windows but not the decorations on them.
The colour is what deceives more but it will be "easy" for you to change it ;o)
I am not working on my Casa at the moment, I'm working at being a mum: LOVE IT !!!! :o)))))))
Hugs, Rosanna
I owe you a mail, it wont be long, promise.

What a charming challenge! The all things you have made earlier have been really interesting and fine. I believe that in the course of time you will find what you wish. It´s very interesting to wait for it. Hugs Kati

Dear Spectacular Sorceress Sans!... Yes, I will have to call you that again... I really have no doubt you will put a spell on that yellow house and turn it into a very special, spectacular and breathtaking piece. And I'm glad that when you're through with your thinking and planning which design should inspire you or maybe what elements you could borrow from all of them, I will see the results of your thinking step by step and piece by piece on this magical blog. I'm a lucky girl!

Greetings
Birgit

Oh Yay! I have been So EAGERLY Awaiting this Moment! A Whole NEW Project of your Magic! No PRESSURE Here, of Course, Dear Sans! It is an amazing challenge to turn an American Dollhouse into an India House.... but they have connections through England... perhaps even the Tudor style buildings could give clues too! (They had the overhanging second floors and ornamental wood work on the exterior too!)
I would suggest attaching it to a larger base and building a larger shell around it... making some of the porches and balconies go all around..... But that is just a suggestion! I am SURE you already have very clear ideas and I can't WAIT to see them emerge!
SO MUCH Fun!!!

Gagan, will you believe that's Jamie Foxx singing the 1st song, Fly Love? It's from the Rio soundtrack. :) My 3 year old nephew loves it and so do I :).

The last one eh? Let me stare at the Alison Jr (dollhouse) some more. :)

Hi Sans,
Wow that will be a lot of work but I know you can do it. So go for it!!
Will be waiting for photos of the transformation.
Hugs

Well, one thing I know for sure, you can do it. You work magic. Do you think you'll mainly embellish, or change the shape? (I always wish I was better at shaping things, rather than adding onto things, maybe that's my goal for 2012!). But the joy involved in transforming this one, all that beautiful carving and detail and aging and patina(ing), you are the unparalleled artisan of all of this, it should be a joy to witness. Would you make a tin roof? Could you lift it off the ground in some way? I love how the inspirations are so simple at their foundations...oh boy, this should be good!

Sans! said...

Amy, Cathay was an old name for China. Singapore was called Temasek a long long time ago :).

This house is too small really to be transformed into a haveli. I am thinking of doing it jointly with the Princess Anne which is a much easier house to bash into. Anne has the right shape. I hope to start with the more challenging one though and trash it if I fail (!!)... not really. Yes, I do hope to transform the shape of the Alison. I really haven't the faintest idea how though except that there will be a whole load of hacking. Embellishing too as I can't carve. It's tedious but not difficult, I think.

Interesting that you should ask me about the roof. That's my biggest headache ..no, maybe the recessed archways or the protruding niches..ok, massive headache coming..

Sans! said...

Will probably take me at least a year to finish this one , Norma S :)

Sans! said...

Did you really type 24 of the "I want to see", Ana :)? Even if you cut and paste, that must have been at least 6 times!

And is that a new profile pic I spot? What's that sign ? I can only read "herself". Does it say, "None other than the fabulous miniaturist and biologist.. Herself"?

Sans! said...

Kathy O-O, I thought so too at first..Indian architecture can be too busy, as you so aptly put it..in fact, that's an understatement . Some Indian temples have so much going on, they make me dizzy just looking at them. That's why I favour the Indo-saracenic style which is a mix of Hindu, Islamic, British architecture. Very pared down .

But when I imagine the last one in mini, I thought it could be quite interesting to make. Maybe a Zen version ? :).

No,no Bets, I have absolutely no idea at all! In one of my staring moments , I did think about attaching a base because this house is so short!

I am now wondering if this post is good idea. I appear to have misled everyone into thinking that I CAN do this ! It's like the time when I wanted to build a Bhunga (round mud hut) with the Farmhouse Jr . I actually thought I could somehow bashed it into a round adobe!!

I don't have an engineering mind like you, Bets. Don't even know how to start building a shell around the house although that's exactly what I thought of doing, at least for the right (facing you) of the house where there's potential for some protruding niches. Will have to ask my sister.

I may very well end up building a crumbling haveli which the owner convert into an eating place and call it The Sad Cafe !

Just spent the past hour trying to install "threaded comment" (so that I can reply to a particular comment-see Betsy's blog) feature on this blog only to find out that it is still buggy. Doesn't work for me because the reply box does not appear. :(

Yes, Ewa :). Afraid I am still thinking

Sans! said...

Totally agree, Drora. Dreaming is free :):). It's the thinking that's giving me a headache !

Sans! said...

Maria Ireland, thank you for your vote of confidence! Let's hope it's not misplaced :). This one is really tricky :)

Sans! said...

Oh, Ascensión, usted me entiende tan bien.
Arghhhhh

Sans! said...

Thank you Victoria! And have I told you how much I love your candles?

Unknown said...

Is it possible to do that? This will be exciting!!!! Love the house on the third picture - beautiful.

Sans! said...

I am sure it is impossible, Mona :):) I really like that house too . An unusual use of blue.

Ana! GOOD LUCK for the fair!

Kikka, thank you for your encouraging words. I am determined to try my best :).

Margriet, love that new ceiling in Dragon Tower! I hope to emulate your ability to make wonder :).

Sans! said...

Rosanna, if we meet in March, I may need to seek advice from you and your Papa on some construction ideas :). Afraid today, there's a spanner in the works, Margaret may be held up with work. Will write you with more when I learn more .

By the way , you have given me very good suggestions. I hate the yellow too but not as much as the pink on the Queen Anne :).

Sans! said...

Katrina, I just visited your blog and saw the house you are "renovating" . I wish I am working on something like that instead of the Alison Jr. :)

But maybe if I have your dollhouse, I won't have the heart to change it much. So I guess this is a good thing :). Just being positive here, haha!

Sans! said...

Oh no, dear Piiko, I am afraid my thinking process takes a long time but once that is done and I get down to starting the work, I usually finish it very fast. A few months of thinking and I can finish working in like 3 days or less and I wonder why the hell didn't I just get down to doing it if it takes me such a short time.

I guess that's why I take so long to think so that it will only take me a while to do :).

Sans! said...

Niunka! Amazing? Possible? That I have found a new friend from Poland :). Thank you, my dear for the visit for leaving a comment :). At this moment, I am thinking "not possible" but who knows :).
