Day 350- A Night In Heaven

I have never seen a more flawed bloom
nor a more beautiful one.

And when they grow by the dozens,

they entwine, envelope, embrace

and I have never seen more freedom;

nor more life in a dead red car.

Day 349- "Heaven for Dead Cars"

On the 11th Saturday, 7th July 2012, Nathaniel and I made our own Supertree for our project.

I chanced upon this barren plastic branch the day after I had just finished a run at the Marina Bay Gardens where I took pictures of the Supertrees. This was what became of it after I plucked out all its plastic flowers for the blue garden. All the light bulbs in my head burst into flames when I saw the stem and I knew then we would have our own Supertree

This Supertree of ours would be made with licence plates, rusty exhaust pipes and steel parts.

I printed the licence plates with the words I wanted to use on a paper and then glued the paper onto a sheet of metal foil that was used as packaging for medication. I then painted the plates to give them a rusty and old effect.

Teedee was charged with arranging the words for the Supertree. Essentially, this Supertree was to double up as a huge signpost for the garden.

One of the signs say:

Project Junkyard by Nathaniel and Sans!

My favourite one by Teedee was

WELCOME, DEAD CARS!

The thing that really pleases us both about this signpost though is how we are able to tell everyone that this junkyard project has now evolved into a

Heaven for Dead Cars.

Day 346- Supertree

Supertree Grove, Gardens By The Bay, 29/6/2012

I live in a garden city.

In a land scarce country like Singapore where blocks of apartments were built within a stone's throw from each other, we could have easily gone the way of a Blade-Runner-Dystopia if not for our trees and gardens. The pursuit for a greener Singapore started shortly after we became independent and our efforts today were no less tenacious than it was some 45 years ago.

School of The Arts, 29/6/2012

From Garden City to City in A Garden, we plant huge trees in the middle of bustling roads, smaller ones to grace sidewalks. We built gardens after gardens and when we ran out of space for our fronds and floral, we created vertical green walls as high as any buildings, as if they are giant trees to climb into the sky.

Gardens By The Bay, 29/6/2012

I grew up with them, like they were my friends

and more than just a way to beautify the environment, they spell home for me. I love how they always lift my spirit, bring me smiles, make me love.

Mostly, I love how they always, always inspire...

Day 342- Merah Melaka

Merah means red in Malay.

Melaka or Malacca is the 3rd smallest state in Malaysia and its capital city, Malacca City has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 7 July 2008.

On 25th July 2012, Rosanna, FaiZ, MarG spent 2 delightful days here.

We were at the

Dutch Square

also known as Red Square where everything is designed to bring smiles .

Jonker Street

where they really mean it when they say Let's Paint The Town Red!

Red was everywhere..

Outside

Inside

By the River

Or against the sky

This is the city that will make you

see Red

but in a very good way.
